MFS0021 The Gulf of Mexico - Johnson TX to Key West FL

Welcome to the Gulf of Mexico.  In the last excursion arrived at Johnson Airport in Port Mansfield, Texas. We’re almost sitting on the Mexician/USA (Texas) border and we’re close to the water’s edge of the Gulf of Mexico.

In this trip we follow the coastal areas eastward from Texas, through Louisiana, to Mississippi, Alabama and finally into Florida with our destination being Key West.

This excursion covers 1846 nm in 22 legs.

The Excursion:

This is intended to be a low level flight excursion, as we proceed eastward along the coastal areas of the Gulf of Mexico.  In FSX-P3D might have to tweak an airport ICAO or two to match the sim’s airport table but the flight plans will direct you to the locations of the intended airports.

Aircraft:

These are all land runways and some of the legs are a bit longer so a slightly heavier aircraft/helo might be in order. Speed is best around 120-150 to be able to enjoy the site seeing aspect. Either single or twin will fit the bill: IE: DHC-2 Beaver, DHC-3 Otter, DHC-6 Twotter, Kodiak 100, Piper PA28 or slightly larger aircraft like a twin Cessna ie 337, 421/441, DC-3 etc will nicely fit the bill.

Time/Weather:

If possible try live time and live weather. If not possible set your own weather and time parameters and enjoy the scenery.  (Dawn or Dusk are the nicest times to fly and can yield very pretty and interesting lighting effects).
