MFC0027 Western Chugach TWC 1-2
We have made it to Seward on the Kenai Peninsula and we travel into Western Chugach. (RTMM Scenery by Rod Jackson)
The Western Chugach - Part 1 adds isolated enhanced areas of true-to-life scenery that begin at Mile Marker 13.5 along the Seward Highway heading North from Seward, Alaska and end at Mile Marker 46.0 which is just above the Summit Lake SPB (52Z). Isolated terrain and object enhancements along the way stretch up to 5 miles on each side of the highway and include trails, campgrounds, homes, commercial areas and the town of Moose Pass. Detailed maps of the points of interest along the highway are included. The Western Chugach - Part 1: From Seward to Summit Lake (52Z) is the first part of a four-part scenery series that features super-detailed Alaskan wilderness scenery built on top of ORBX SAK based on real-life.
The Western Chugach - Part 2 adds many enhanced areas of true-to-life scenery covering over 600 square miles in the western Chugach Mountains including the Cooper Landing and Quartz Creek Airport (JLA) areas. This scenery includes some of the most beautiful scenery in Alaska featuring world-class salmon fishing, drift boat fishing, whitewater areas, rapids, waterfalls and a number of hand-drawn creeks plus the full length of the Russian River. There are numerous fishing lodges, bed and breakfasts and cabins depicted as well.
We will later return to this area to continue exploration after the development of Parts 3 and 4 of TWC but in the mean time we have plenty to explore in Rod’s TWC-1 and TWC-2 scenery pieces.
Aircraft: This is another low and slow adventure so the aircraft used must be a single engine fixed wing standard prop Amphibian as landing locations vary from land to water moorings. All of these flights are short so a lighter single prop is recommended: Aircraft IE: ICON A5, C185, DHC2 or DHC3 “Amphibian versions” but you can use any single engine non-turbo “amphibian”. Helo pilots do your thing in a helicopter but for most legs you require a “floats” or amphibian version.
Tour Flight Leg Rating Conditions: “6Ax”: 6=Max landing rate is -600fpm, A=Autopilot and/or GPS use permitted. (but AP not recommended). x-# of Stop-overs in the flight leg*. Watch the flight legs closely as you progress through the excursion.
The Tour download for this excursion is available in the Tour downloads section which contains all of the tour details, scenery requirements, stop-over locations, flight plans, sky vector map links as well as the award for completion so make sure you obtain the tour download for all of the tour specifics.
This excursion has 10 scenery filled legs and lots of interesting stops but this is only the air tour of the area. For more adventures follow Rod’s exploration plans (air as well as water in a Kenai River Tour found in the TWC scenery downloads. |
