MFC0040 San Diego Intl CA to Grants-Milan Mun NM (KSAN-KGNT)
Since our MFC journey is a continuous one (so far) we start our engines in San Diego California and we’ll be heading southward crossing the wall into Mexico, then eastward visiting the states of Arizona, New Mexico and will make a short stop just across the state border to Texas.
We are we going? We are slowly working ourselves towards the Grand Canyon(s) and vicinity and over time will be exploring the entire Rocky Mountain chain from the Grand Canyons northward to Canada then onto Alaska.
This series will take a while and we’re out of the RTMM add-on area but this Canyon and mountains chain is full of natural scenic value as well as plenty of eye candy with ORBX regions as well as airports: both freeware and pay ware additions. (None are mandatory but they do add much to the sim). In any event, the default terrain and airports are adequate for this excursion.
The FTX freeware global airports package is full of airports that we are going to cover in this and following excursions.
-------------------------------------
The Orbx region for this excursion is Southern California (SCA) and there are plenty of ORBX enhanced airports: a few pay ware for additional eye candy but most in this area are ORBX freeware (FTX Freeware Global Airports). (See scenery document for details).
All landings in this excursion are on runways: (there are none on water) so for an added dimension we can use wheeled aircraft. This one set for the Rockwell Aero Commander family – 500, 520, 560, 690 etc: Light piston engine and/or turboprop aircraft built by the Aero Design/Rockwell Company. Twin power is good for this excursion as we’ll be covering a lot of ground in this trip (16 Legs and over 1900 nm) but, as always, you can use any prop aircraft or helicopter that resembles one of the our fleet!
Each flight leg has either one or two stop-overs (intermediate stops) in each leg and we will be visiting most of the POI in this trip and we will be hitting all the ORBX airports (freeware and pay ware) along the way.
Aircraft: Any MFC Fleet aircraft or helicopter. (AC500 (Aero Commander family, makes a very nice ride for this excursion!).
Tour Flight Leg Rating Conditions: “6A1 or 6A2”
6=Max landing rate is -600fpm,
A=Autopilot and/or GPS use permitted: (but not recommended).
1 or 2-# of Stop-overs in the flight leg*. Each leg of this trip has 1 or 2 stop-overs.
Watch the flight leg details/tour doc closely for the stop-over locations in each leg.
The Tour download for this excursion is available in the Tour downloads section which contains the all the tour details, scenery requirements, stop-over locations, flight plans, sky vector map links as well as the award for completion so make sure you obtain the tour download for all of the tour specifics.
