MFC0044 Rockies 4-McCarran Intl NV to Lake Tahoe CA (KLAS-KTVL)

Description:

MFC0044 Rockies-4 -  McCarran Intl NV to Lake Tahoe CA (KLAS-KTVL)

And we continue our mountain journey from McCarran Intl. located in Las Vegas NV and weaving through the Rockies.
This trip will take us into California’s San Bernardino National Forest as well as Yosemite National Park as we work
our way northward towards Lake Tahoe.

We’ll be crossing rugged terrain in this trip so a heavy duty aircraft is in order as we navigate the mountain and the canyons.

-------------------------------------

All landings in this excursion are again nice land runways. There are 14 weaving legs in this trip.

And there is even an add-on scenery piece for the Death Valley/area built by Thomas Menzel, RTMM Team member and Pilot MFC0084. It is located in the 5. Death Valley Add-on Scenery folder in the MFC0044 tour downloads. Be sure to add for leg 6, 7 and 8.

This is a very high and low and slow trip but at times will need a very powerful aircraft to rise over those box canyons! (If you fly that low! as I tend to). Recommend a twin engine aircraft standard or turbo prop which has enough power to quickly climb and also to navigate the twists and turns IE: AC500, Beech 18, Twin Cessna or perhaps the twin otter. I might try a twin Cessna 208 this trip but feel free to fly your choice of aircraft or rotorcraft.

For the helicopter pilots out there a more rugged helicopter might provide a better ability to navigate this excursion rather than a lighter one. But again whatever works for you.

-----------------------------------------------

(Floats or amphibians are not necessary in this excursion!!)

----------------------------------------------------

Tour Flight Leg Rating Conditions: “6A1” or “6A0”

6=Max landing rate is -600fpm,

A=Autopilot and/or GPS use permitted: (but not recommended).

1 (or 0) or (2) = # of Stop-overs in the flight leg*. (12 legs have one stop, one leg has no stops and one leg has two stops).

*Watch the flight leg details/tour doc closely for the stop-over locations in each leg.

The Tour download for this excursion is available in the Tour downloads section which contains the all the tour details, scenery requirements, stop-over locations, flight plans, sky vector map links, the Death Valley Add-on Scenery zip as well as the award for completion so make sure you obtain the tour download for all of the tour specifics.
