MFC0047 Rockies 7 - Boise Air Terminal-Gowen ID to Jackson Hole WY (KBOI-KJAC)
We continue northward in our mountain journey (#7) from Boise Idaho to Jackson Hole Wyoming.
Wyoming is a state in the mountain region of the Western United States. The state is the 10th largest by area, the least populous,
and the second most sparsely populated state in the country. The western two-thirds of the state is covered mostly by the mountain
ranges and rangelands of the Rocky Mountains, while the eastern third of the state is high elevation prairie called the High Plains.
In this excursion, we'll explore some of these mountain areas as well as the Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks.
The routes in this trip are a bit more intricate or complex at times as we run through mountain valleys etc.
Again we’ll be crossing rugged terrain in this trip so a heavier duty aircraft is in order as we navigate through river valleys,
canyons and mountains.
All landings in this excursion are again nice land runways. There are 15 weaving legs in this trip: a very high and low and slow
trip but at times will need a more powerful aircraft.
Recommendation is a twin engine aircraft: standard or turbo prop which has enough power to quickly climb and also to navigate the
twists and turns IE: Beech 18, AC500, Twotter DHC6, or a Twin Cessna perhaps. I might try the AC500 in this trip but feel free to
fly the aircraft of your choosing.
For the helicopter pilots out there a more rugged helicopter might provide a better ability to navigate this excursion rather than
a lighter one. But again whatever works for you. ((Floats or amphibians are not necessary in this excursion!!)
Tour Flight Leg Rating Conditions: “6A2”
6=Max landing rate is -600fpm,
A=Autopilot and/or GPS use permitted: (but not recommended).
2= # of Stop-overs in the flight leg* (2 mid-stops).
(Each of the 18 legs has two stops (Leg 17 touch and G’s) but feel free to land or Touch N Go at any airport/locations on the way.)
*Watch the flight leg details/tour doc closely for the stop-over locations in each leg.
The Tour download for this excursion is available in the Tour downloads section which contains the all the tour details, scenery
requirements, stop-over locations, flight plans, sky vector map links as well as the award for completion so make sure you obtain
the tour download for all of the tour specifics.
