MFC0049 Rockies 9-Missoula Intl. MO to Calgary AB (KMSO-CYYC)
We continue northward in our Rocky mountain journey (#9) from Missoula Intl (KMSO), Montana, USA to Calgary Intl. (CYYC), Alberta, Canada.
Montana is a state in the Northwestern United States. Montana has several nicknames: "Big Sky Country" and "The Treasure State", "Land of
the Shining Mountains" or "The Last Best Place". Montana is the fourth-largest in area, the 8th least populous, and the third-least densely
populated of the 50 U.S. states. The western half of Montana contains numerous mountain ranges. In all, 77 named ranges are part of the Rocky
Mountains to which we will explore some in this excursion as well as some parts of Yellowstone National Park.
Alberta is a province in Western Canada. Its landscape encompasses mountains, prairies, desert badlands and vast coniferous forests. It has
more than 600 lakes, and rich mineral deposits. In the west, the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks have glaciers in the Columbia Icefields.
Again we’ll be crossing some rugged terrain in this trip so a heavier duty aircraft might be in order as we navigate through river valleys,
canyons and through the mountain ranges.
All landings in this excursion are again nice land runways. There are 17 legs in this trip: each with one stop-over:
Recommendation is a single standard or turbo prop or twin: which has enough power to quickly climb and also to navigate the twists and turns
IE: Cessna 206 Soloy, Beech 18, AC500, Twotter DHC6, King Air/variation (B200, 350) or even Twin Cessna perhaps. Might use the Cessna T206H
Turbo Soloy in this trip but feel free to fly the aircraft of your choosing.
For the helicopter pilots out there a more rugged helicopter might provide a better ability to navigate this excursion rather than a lighter
one. But again whatever works for you. (Floats or amphibians are not necessary in this excursion!!)
Tour Flight Leg Rating Conditions: “6A1”
6=Max landing rate is -600fpm,
A=Autopilot and/or GPS use permitted: (but not recommended).
1= # of Stop-overs in the flight leg* (1 mid-stops).
(Each of the 17 legs has one mid-stop except Leg 4).
*Watch the flight leg details/tour doc closely for the stop-over locations in each leg.
The Tour download for this excursion is available in the Tour downloads section which contains the all the tour details, scenery requirements,
stop-over locations, flight plans, sky vector map links as well as the award for completion so make sure you obtain the tour download for all
of the tour specifics.
