MFC0052 Rockies 12- Owikeno S Strip to Terrace (PF55-CYXT)
We continue northward on even a more rugged mountain journey here in the Canadian Rockies. This is mountain trip #12 departing from
Owikeno S. Strip (PF55) and winding our way through the towering rock faces towards Terrace Airport (CYXT). We are in the heart of
western BC and are again back in RTMM add-on scenery.
Expect stops at some of more rugged locations IE: on top of glaciers, remote points of interest and smaller RTMM locations IE: RTMM
cabins, lighthouses or outposts. There is a lot to view on these flight legs.
The legs in this trip are relatively short and most legs have only one stop (except leg 13). We are in mountain territory but will
try to travel the mountain and river valleys so there won’t be too much extreme or rapid climbing. This gives opportunity to use a
lighter aircraft: perhaps an ultralight type aircraft or a small single or even a small twin for practice! But we are back into
some water moorings so whatever you use you’ll need an amphibian type craft.
Recommendation is a stronger single engine standard or turbo or twin - Amphibian: C182, C195, DHC2, DHC3, Kodiak etc, For twins the DHC6 twotter or Beech 18 might make a good choice but again must be amphibian to navigate this excursion.
For the helicopter pilots out there, a less rugged or lighter helicopter will do just fine to be able to navigate this excursion
but has to have floats.
It’s been a while but think I’ll try to fly Milton Shupe’s Beech 18 amphibian in this trip but feel free to use the aircraft or
helicopter of your choice.
Tour Flight Leg Rating Conditions: “6A0”
6=Max landing rate is -600fpm,
A=Autopilot and/or GPS use permitted: (but not recommended).
1= # of Stop-overs in the flight leg*
(*There is ONE mid-stop on each leg -EXCEPT leg 13 which has TWO mid-stops!)
The Tour download for this excursion is available in the Tour downloads section which contains the all the tour details,
scenery requirements, stop-over locations, flight plans, sky vector map links as well as the award for completion so make
